Hello, I’m new here, I’m here trying to resolve an issue with FL Studio and the Edirol SD-90. I recently bought an Edirol SD-90 and I want to use it on FL Studio 20. I have its drivers downloaded and FL Studio does recognize it, the problem is, when I load it into any channel, I’m stuck with some generic MIDI samples. The SD-90 has special sound samples, in which I’m interested in using. Does anyone know how to use those special sample from the SD-90? Thanks in advance

A shot in the dark... im not a fruity user but if your getting generic crummy midi sounds...and i might be wrong ...as im not there to see your setup ..but check on a fruity track if the midi track is pointing to the edirol rather than say on board generic pc sound. more info on your rig would help eg do you have a proper interface or do you use default on board pc sound chip ? it all comes down to proper set up of settings. i would also contact fruity support for possible solutions and their user forum. are you a pg user ? hth.

Welcome to the forum. You need to download a Patch Map to use the higher bank sounds with BIAB. I had an SD-80, similar to yours. Bob 'Notes' Norton (another fellow user here) had an SD-90; not sure if he still uses it. I have no knowledge of FL Studio, but you could always move rendered audio from BIAB into any DAW. A few of us wrote patch maps for these Edirol units. Go here: https://www.pgmusic.com/support_miscellaneous.htm Then you will be able to access the higher banks when choosing a MIDI patch. Pro tip: the patch map is ASCII text and can be edited, so your most-common sounds can be placed up top if you like.

I have never used a MIDI patch before, so I have a couple questions: 1. Will the patch affect on anyway the software of my Edirol SD-90? 2. Once I have the .pat file, where should I put it so that it works? thank you very much for your help.

1) No. Think of this as a translator. 2) I put mine in a folder I created in /bb but I think it can be anywhere (except C:/Program Files); when selecting a MIDI patch, you just locate it. I’ll double-check this.

Thanks again for the info. I did all the steps you told me to do. My FL Studio recognises the plugin version of Band-in-a-Box, but, there isn't any option to add the patch file on it. Howerver, on the main program version of Band-in-a-Box there the option to add the patch, but on the plugin version not. What do you think I'm doing wrong? I attached some screeshots so that you can see what I'm refering to. Thanks again.

I understand your question better now. I’m not experienced with the plug-in. There is a user forum here for the plug-in and I think you should post there.
The answer may be that the plug-in doesn’t allow this, in which case you can make a feature request. But I don’t know.

Yes, the Edirol accepts patch changes that include bank numbers. That’s all MIDI information, so will pass through to the device using whatever midi driver is installed. Regular patch numbers are accessed just by sending one number , the patch number,
whereas, Edirol 90 patches on higher banks are accessed by sending three numbers
Bank LSB (“low”) range 0-127 bank HSB (“high”) range 0-127 Patch number range 0-127 (though the devices call this 1-128 because consumers didn’t like the idea of patches starting at 0. So “1 acoustic piano” displays in the device when internally a patch 0 is sent)
Have Fun! Peter Gannon PG Music Inc.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
